Men’s College World Series

The 2019 College World Series (CWS) is in full effect! Each and every year, the best baseball teams from across the country represent their school on the biggest stage. The 2019 College World Series is taking place at TD Ameritrade Park in Omaha, Nebraska. This is every college baseball player’s dream as it is the biggest and most decorated stage in the sport. To get to the College World Series, a team must be able to successfully win their Super Regional. Unlike the NCAA Basketball Tournament, the CWS is a bigger gauntlet to overcome. For example, in basketball, if a team loses one game, they are eliminated. In baseball, each team has to be beaten twice under the double elimination format.

This year, eight teams made up the College World Series tournament. Texas Tech, Michigan, Arkansas, Florida State, Vanderbilt, Louisville, Mississippi State and Auburn all won their respective Super Regionals to advance to the College World Series. The Southeastern Conference (SEC) led the way with four teams (Arkansas, Vanderbilt, Mississippi State and Auburn) all making the CWS. The heavy favorites for this year’s College World Series is the Vanderbilt Commodores. Vandy has consistently been at the top of the College Baseball rankings since their last championship in 2014. With leading the nation in batting averages and fielding percentages with only 38 errors and having a ton of MLB prospects, the Commodores seem to have what it takes to bring the championship back to Nashville where they reside. Will the Vanderbilt Commodores win again or will we have a new winner such as the Michigan Wolverines? Only one college team can bring the championship back to their respective school! Numbers show that it will be the SEC since 5 of the last 9 winners are from the Southeastern Conference. Ladies and Gentleman, play ball!
